Notebook

Next, you'll need a notebook to begin writing the first draft of your book. Upon this notebook, where pen mates with paper, is where all of your creative juices can spill.  No one can fault you for making a mess, buy you.  Within this notebook is where creative juice spills are forgiven, wiped out even.  Just when you're on a roll, writing as if tomorrow will never come, you get interrupted, distracted, or your mind suddenly draws a blank.  But worry not; this notebook is where your dream of authorship begins.  No rules, no maximum limits imposed upon how creative you can be.  You can brainstorm, write and rewrite pages, chapters, and hell, even the entire book if you so choose.

Strive for perfection.  Always reread what you've written, as even seasoned writers see ways to improve their work each time they go over it.  For example, you may have written "I wore a black hat and black jacket to the restaurant."  Yet, as you peruse your masterpiece, you feel the need to rewrite it as, "I donned a black fedora, paired with a matching blazer, as I strutted into the hippest bistro in town."  Wallah! Just like magic, you managed to convert a mundane sentence into a visually descriptive and eargasmic* experience.  Do you see? Once you, as a writer, release your artistic inhibitions, let go, and ride with the flow of the waves of sudden inspiration you'll wind up with a fantastic book!

* A combination of the words ear and orgasmic that my dad seems to have coined.
